A look back at 2016

I think we can all agree that 2016 has been a hard year – a year full of tragedies and decisions that have shocked the world. With that being said, it has also been the best year of my life! 2016 was definitely the year of massive changes and I honestly couldn’t be happier with where I am now. 2016 was the year that..

We got married. On the 6th August I married my best friend and the love of my life. The day was everything that we wanted it to be and so much more, and although it was gone in a flash, it really was the best day of my life. I’ve finally pulled together some of my favourite photos from the wedding which will be coming your way on Friday, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that!

We had the honeymoon of our dreams in Florida. As well as having such an amazing wedding day, we were also lucky enough to jet off to Florida a couple of days later. It was my first time in Florida and it’s safe to say that I instantly fell in love with Orlando. We had the best time exploring Universal, Disney World, Busch Gardens and Orlando itself, and made so many memories that we’ll always cherish.

We bought a house. In the middle of wedding planning, we also managed to buy our first house! After months of house-hunting we finally found the one, and since then we’ve been painting, filling it with furniture and adding lots of lovely little touches to make it our own. It’s nowhere near being #PinterestGoals but I couldn’t be more proud of our new home.

2016 did bring a couple of not-so-nice firsts. Exactly a week before the wedding I was involved in my first car accident. Thankfully no one was hurt, and my car was looking as good as new after spending some time at the garage while we were on our honeymoon.

2016 also saw me break my first bone. Clumsy me fell when I was doing some shopping in Glasgow and managed to fracture a bone in my foot. Luckily I didn’t need a cast or crutches, just plenty of rest for my foot that ballooned to twice its size!

I hope 2016 was kind to you, and that 2017 will be your year.
