Have a big hair day? That’s what I’m looking for most days as my naturally straight hair can look limp and lifeless without extra root-boosting products, so I really couldn’t say no to the Lush Big Sea Salt Shampoo.
Made primarily with sea salt, this shampoo promises to lift at the roots and leave hair looking very voluminous and, well, big. The shampoo was unlike anything I’d used before as it’s extremely bitty (it’s basically a pot of salt to slather on your hair), but I soon realised that you need to take a small handful, apply it as best as you can to the roots and rub in, pop your head under the shower for a few seconds and then the shampoo should lather up very easily. I do find that I can feel my scalp tingle a little when I use Big so I really feel like it’s working its magic, and it’s easy enough to rinse out so you’re not left with any sea salt in your hair. Big also contains virgin coconut oil and seaweed to soften the hair, as well as lemon and lime to really make your hair shine.
So… does it actually work? I’m happy to report that Big does in fact make my hair look big. My roots are nicely lifted after washing and blow drying, and it also helps give my hair a bit more texture for holding curls and waves which is a great bonus. All in all I’ve been very impressed with this shampoo and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking to boost their hair with volume. It can be pricey at £6.95 for 130g, £13.95 for 330g and £23.50 for 600g, but I tend to only use this shampoo once a week so it does last a fair amount of time.
