It seems that I just can’t get enough of the pastel and bright nail shades before we move into the autumn berry tones, and this bright beauty from Essie is certainly no exception. I’ve recently been donning Haute as Hello on my nails and I have to say, it manages to give even my incredibly fair skin more of a tanned look. Score!
As you can see, Essie Haute in the Heat is an orange toned coral shade which is pretty bright, and even has a hint of neon to it in some lights. Essie describes this particular shade as a “racy, scorching coral” which I can totally get on board with, and what I love is I could still get away with this sort of colour all year round as it’s just so flattering against my skin.
As much as I love the colour of Haute in the Heat, my gripe is with its formula which I found to be quite streaky when applying. I had to apply 3 coats of polish to get an opaque colour which is something I tend to avoid and I’m not the most patient when it comes to painting my nails. My only other issue with this particular polish is that it dries to a satin/semi-matte finish – something that I can’t quite get used to as I much prefer creme polishes with a super shiny finish.
Haute as Hello was released in the Essie Summer 2010 collection so it won’t be the easiest shade to get your hands on, although I’m sure you could track down a bottle on Amazon, Ebay or any nail dedicated web stores with lots of Essie shades to choose from. If you’re interested in this shade and are struggling to find it online, you can also pick up a very similar colour from Boots – Essie Tart Deco (£7.99).
