My January, February & March Favourites

IMG_1055_edited_edited

Long time no post, eh? I sound like a bit of a broken record these days as I tend to disappear, come back with every intention of posting regularly and then go quiet again. Long story short, things are so busy right now with wedding planning, house-buying and work so writing blog posts has been put to the back of my mind for a time when I’m feeling up to writing. Thankfully tonight is one of those nights and I’m back with a long overdue favourites post.. so overdue that I’ve decided to combine my favourites from the last 3 months into one bumper favourites post. If you don’t mind reading longer posts then I hope you enjoy this one as it has turned into an essay!

Skincare

There have been two standout skincare products for me over the last few months, and they’re both products that have helped the dry patches that normally plague my forehead and chin. The first is my new favourite cleanser, the Sanctuary Warming Cleansing Butter Balm*. I much preferred cream and oil cleansers to balms in the past, but this gorgeous cleansing balm has totally changed my mind. Its formula enriched with almond oil is so moisturising on the skin and also does an amazing job of removing even the most stubborn of makeup. My moisturiser of choice has been the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream – a cult skincare product in the beauty world that I took far too long to try out for myself. This cream is lightweight but really packs a punch in terms of keeping the skin hydrated.

Makeup

Lets start with my favourite primer.. the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer. I was already a huge fan of the One Heck of a Blot Powder so this purchase was a no brainer, and I’m happy to say I haven’t looked back since. This primer feels so smooth and light on the skin and definitely does its job of keeping my makeup in place and controlling shine. My foundation pick is an oldie but a goodie – the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation. I instantly fell back in love with this foundation when I picked up its new lightest shade Light Porcelain a couple of months back, as the colour is perfect for my paler skin and the medium coverage looks so natural on the skin.

Both powder products in my favourites are rediscoveries so I hope you don’t mind me repeating myself! My blusher of choice has been NARS Luster, a beautiful apricot shade that adds so much warmth to my cheeks and is perfect for the spring summer months with its subtle golden sheen. Speaking of sheen, my favourite highlighter is, without a doubt, the Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. This golden champagne highlighting powder has been a staple in my makeup routine since for the last year or so, but March saw me fall in love with it even more. I’ll definitely be embracing the strobed for spring and summer this year.

Let’s talk eyes and brows. The last few months have seen me really try to make an effort with my brows, experimenting with powders and pencils for filling them in, and soon enough I was on the hunt for a good brow gel. Enter the Eylure Brow Control and Shape Gel, the gel that’s kept my brows in place all day every day since! My lash favourite is an oldie but a goodie, the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, as quite simply it’s the best mascara I’ve ever used. My lashes are short and straight which makes them look pretty non-existent, but this mascara does an amazing job of making them look fuller, longer and a lot more curled.

My lip product of choice over the last few months has definitely been the Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream in Cotton Candy. Liquid lipsticks are everywhere right now thanks to the Kylie Lip Kits and while I’m sure they’re lovely to work with, I’m quite happy to stick with this beauty bargain that really packs a punch. This has been my go-to lip product for wearing during the day at work, and it’s a colour that I just can’t get enough of!

Nails

Last but not least is my nail pick for the last few months and it’s something quite out of character, red. I’ve really been embracing red nails after giving pastels and nude shades a bit of a rest, and I just can’t seem to get enough of how polished and lovely it makes my hands and nails feel. There’s something so sophisticated about wearing red nail polish, and my shade of choice has been Essie Double Breasted Jacket.

Phew, we’ve made it to the end! I’d love to know – what beauty products are you loving right now?
