You won’t get far in any bookshop without coming across a beauty book – filled to the brim with tips, tricks and a splash of lifestyle too – and if there’s one that I would recommend without any hesitation, it would be Pretty Honest by the very talented Sali Hughes. The tagline, The Straight-Talking Beauty Companion, couldn’t be more fitting as Sali covers skincare, makeup, haircare and so many other things in between, in the most entertaining way imaginable. I mean, c’mon, who else would describe the flat colour of most brows as being “somewhere between ‘dirty dishwater’ and ‘oily puddle'”.
As a self-confessed beauty junkie, this book was bound to be perfect for me. What I love the most about the book, apart from Sali’s witty and straight-to-the-point style of writing, is that it’s packed full of real-life beauty problems and simple solutions for tackling these issues. I have Pretty Honest to thank for a number of things, including a recent reevaluation of my skincare routine, as well as encouraging me to spend more time on my non-existent brows. I’m also looking forward to delving deep into the Bridal chapter as my big day gets closer.
Whether you’re looking for a new beauty bible, or even just a beautiful book for your coffee table/dressing table, Pretty Honest should be at the top of your list!
