Rediscovering hair oils

As if combination skin wasn’t enough of a pain to deal with, why not throw in combination hair too. I’ve always had a bit of a dilemma when it comes to haircare as I have really oily roots and equally dry ends, so finding the right balance between clarifying and hydrating products has been tricky. While I feel like I’ve nailed the clarifying shampoos, finding a great hydrating product for my ends was next on my list. Enter hair oil, a recent rediscovery that has changed my haircare routine for the better!

I have to admit, the thought of adding oil to my (already oily) hair was a bit of a scary one, but now I can’t get enough of it. It’s important to note that you need to find the right balance between sleek looking locks and hair that looks greasy, and I’ve found that a couple of pumps worth of oil normally does the trick. I tend to apply the oil to my hair when it’s damp and combed through, and after blow drying I’m left with smooth and shiny hair that doesn’t feel too slick or weighed down. Oil is also a great product for taming frizzy hair and fly-aways, as well as a lovely styling product to apply to the ends of your hair after curling or straightening. Just make sure you concentrate the oil on the ends of your hair and steer clear of your roots, cos ain’t nobody got time for an oily mess!
