Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette

You’ve got to hand it to Urban Decay – they always seem to get it right when it comes to palettes! I was already a huge fan of the Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes after falling in love with the 2 Naked Basics palettes and the rosy-toned Naked 3, but as soon as I caught a peek at the shadows inside the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette, I knew it had to be mine. If ever there was a palette that dreams were made of, it would be this one!

First thing’s first, I have to say that I adore the packaging of this palette. The palette feels so sturdy and well-made, and I’m a big fan of the simple dotted design on the front which is paired with lots of gold. The size of the palette probably doesn’t make it the most travel-friendly makeup product but I’m sure I could make room in my makeup bag for this beauty as I think it has everything you need when you’re away from home. The palette also has a huge mirror inside which is a massive plus, and I especially love the ‘magic’s in the makeup’ message that has been printed on the mirror – a lovely little nod to Gwen.

When you think of a eyeshadow palette made in collaboration with Gwen Stefani, you think of bright colours and shadows that will really make a statement. Instead, the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette is made up primarily of neutrals and – with me being Mrs Neutrals when it comes to eyeshadow – I was beyond excited to have this in my life. The bottom row does feature a few brighter shades that would definitely add a pop of colour to the eyes, and while I’m not sure how much use I’ll get out of the metallic pink and blue shades, it’s nice to have them there incase I feel daring someday.

The palette contains 15 shadows – 12 of which are brand new, and 3 are already in the UD range – and what I love is that this is such an incredibly wearable palette. You will find a gorgeous mix of mattes and shimmers, and because of this the palette has been my go-to for eyeshadow ever since I received the palette on Christmas day. The shadows have the soft and buttery texture that is to be expected from an Urban Decay eyeshadow palette, and because of this they are so easy to apply and blend.

Swatches L-R: Blonde (pale beige with pink iridescent shift), Bathwater (pale beige with gold pearl), Skimp (pale nude satin), Steady (medium rose with metallic gold shift) & Punk (reddish brown matte).

Swatches L-R: Baby (cool metallic rose), Anaheim (light taupe-brown matte), Stark (nude-pink matte), Zone (medium brown matte) & Serious (smoky gray with iridescent floating pearl).

All in all I couldn’t be more in love with the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette and am so happy to have it in my life! Whether you’re a fan of Gwen Stefani, neutral eyeshadows or makeup in general then I would highly recommend trying this palette as it really is a joy to use. The palette is limited edition so you’ll need to be quick if you want to get your hands on it – go go go!
